Let’s dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography.

“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?”

It’s important to choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography and has experience working with infants. I’m a mom of four myself, and have spent countless hours training with some of the best newborn photographers in the nation. After 6+ years in this business, I have photographed hundreds of newborns and their families. I’m dedicated to providing a comfortable, convenient, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby (and the rest of your family!). I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful, timeless memories that you’ll cherish for years to come.

“What can I expect during a newborn photography session?”

During a newborn photography session, I’ll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby. All my newborn sessions take place in the comfort and convenience of my client’s homes. You no longer have to worry about leaving your house with your newborn (and partner, and toddler, and pets), because I come to you, and bring with me everything I need! I have a collection of equipment built with your baby’s safety and health in mind. A soft, but firm posing bag, pillows, and fabrics made specifically to fit that teeny tiny newborn body, and all the appropriate lighting to make your images look just like they would if you sat for hours in a studio somewhere. I spend lots of time before your session guiding you through the planning process, and helping to build your expectations for a thorough, enjoyable, and memorable newborn session. You are encouraged to include your whole family in the photos, including both parents and siblings (if applicable). If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I’m always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.

To capture the best moments, it’s important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible, ideally within the first two weeks of your baby’s life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability. (Right after that first OB visit is a great time, since I book newborn sessions out as early as 8 months in advance).

“Do I need to bring anything?”

You don’t need to bring anything to the session, since you won’t have to leave your house! But as far as what to have ready, I will provide all things photo related, including props, backdrops, newborn wraps and blankets, even down to wardrobe options for mom, kids, and baby. Some personal items to consider having ready for the session are: special blankets, toys, loveys, and any other special items you’d like incorporated into your photos, though this is all totally optional!

“When will I get my photos?”

After the session, you can expect to receive an email from me when the gallery is ready within 2-3 weeks of your session, so you can select a convenient time to hold your viewing and ordering appointment. I offer a range of packages that include both digital files and prints. I’m happy to work with you to create a customized package that meets your specific needs, and offer payment plans for all my clients.

“How much does newborn photography cost?”

Newborn photography sessions can range from $650 to $3,000, depending on the package. I know this might seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, training, and equipment. I’m dedicated to providing the best service, the safest experience for your baby, and high-quality images and products that you’ll cherish for a lifetime! One product that’s a favorite among my newborn clients is the Signature Storybook Album. This beautiful book is fully customizable and can hold all the images from your session so you can easily look through and admire them as often as you wish!
