Wondering where to have your next family, maternity, or engagement session? I got you. Read on for some of my favorites in the lovely southeast region of Connecticut.
On the top of my list is Harkness Memorial State Park, in Waterford, Connecticut. If you’re one of my own dear clients, and you ask me for location suggestions prior to your session, this will undoubtedly be my first choice. It’s got a bit of everything, with a large, beautiful old mansion looking out to the Ocean, fields of greenery, gardens full of beautiful blooms in Summer, Spring, and fall, and a gorgeous beach for all those amazing golden hour photographs. Check out the following images from this little slice of heaven.

Here are some samples of the family sessions I’ve done at the park. As you’ll probably be able to see from the photographs, this park offers exceptional views in every season, even Winter!

Number two on my list would probably be Rocky Neck State Park in Old Lyme, CT. Like Harkness, Rocky Neck has rolling sandy beaches, a beautiful large green field, and big old stone building looking out over the water. Here are some photos from one of my favorite sessions at the Park.

Next up is the Connecticut Arboretum. This magical place hides behind Connecticut College in New London, CT. With a much more serene, intimate setting, this location boasts scrolling gardens, scattered gazebos, vine trellises, winding hiking paths, and a large pond in the middle. See some examples of my sessions at this location below:

Number four on my list is Groton Bluff Point, in….surprise, Groton, CT! This place is an awesome location for engagement sessions (I actually know several couples who’ve gotten engaged here!) and family sessions with older children. Bluff Point, like several of my other favorite locations, is on the CT Coast. It offers beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as miles of hiking trails. Beautiful patches of greenery and tall weeds sprout up in several open areas, making great pit-stops along the trail for photographs. One of my favorite maternity sessions took place at Groton Bluff Point, check out this beauty!

Last, but definitely not least, is my own front yard! One among many sources of inspiration for me, as well as a great place to photograph couples, maternity, families, and even newborns on some of our warmer days! Not to brag, but we kinda hit the jackpot with this view:

While this list is far from exhaustive, these five spots are definitely among my favorites and usually the top five I recommend to clients looking for inspiration. Love what you see?
